Editorial
Editorial Standards
How this material is written, reviewed, dated, and corrected.
Purpose
Everything published here is educational. We describe how rules and processes generally work, not what any individual should do. Where a question depends on facts we cannot know, we say so rather than guessing.
Sourcing
We rely on primary material — statutes, agency guidance, treaty text, and official forms — before secondary commentary. Where practice differs from the written rule, we describe both and label which is which.
Review and dating
Each article carries a published date and a last-reviewed date. Cross-border rules change, and a piece that was accurate two years ago may no longer be. If an article has drifted past its review window, we either update it or mark it clearly.
Corrections
Send corrections to the editorial team. Substantive corrections are noted on the article. Typographical fixes are made silently.
Independence
Sponsorship, affiliate arrangements, and professional relationships never determine editorial conclusions, and no sponsor reviews content before publication.
